My Job Helping a Real Estate Investor

I recently needed some money while going to school and I thought I could get a job.  What I needed was a little more spending money for when I was at school.  Yet at the same time I didn’t want something that would take too much time from my studies.

So I had been looking in the paper for the last few weeks looking for something promising - and interesting.  About two weeks ago, I found an ad that caught my eye - a job working for a local real estate investor.

I thought that this opportunity could not only be good for some money (not that it is the only reason to get a job) and a great learning opportunity.  You see, I have been reading some books lately that have suggested that the way to get rich is through real estate - and this would be the perfect opportunity.

So, I went to the interview, showed my enthusiasm, and thanked him for the opportunity.  Highlighting my interest in real estate as well as my major in Commerce must have paid off, as I got a phone call not two hours later telling me that I had the job.

And how did my first week go?

Fun.  Not only was I able to sit on some meetings about potential real estate markets, but I was even able to negotiate a better rate on a Houston mortgage on one of the apartments that the company purchased in the past week.

My future?

Well, I think it lies in real estate investing.  Even though it has been only a week, I see great potential and excitement for me in the industry.  I think I am even going to try to buy my first income property before the end of the year - I get goose bumps just thinking about it!
