Thoughts on High Page Rank Links

Posted By Admin on January 31, 2008 @ 2:05 pm

For the past while, most people have been obsessed with page rank.  This is especially true for those people who buy and sell text links - the higher the number, the greater the cost for the link.  But are these high value links really necessary?

Some people would argue that the higher the page rank, the greater the traffic - but that is not necessarily true.  I have two websites that are totally different page ranks, and the one with the lower page rank gets more traffic.

But, should you leave high page rank sites out of your link building strategies?

I would have to say no.  You see, those sites that are ranked higher tend to have more authority than one that isn’t.  But by just focusing your link building on those specific sites, you may be missing out on sites that are more relevant to your niche.

Do a little brain storming and come up with some good link building ideas and you will see your traffic and search engine rankings increase.  Be sure that you have different ideas on how to build links and do them all - a little variety never hurt anyone.

Always Faced With Decisions

Posted By Twyla on January 26, 2008 @ 10:28 pm

Your next choice in life always affects how your life is going to turn out. No matter what decisions you make, you will always come face to face with more and more choices. That is definitely a fact of life.

It starts at the end of high school. You have to decide whether you are going to further your education or not and if you are, you have to decide what you are going to study. Then you must make a decision to stick with it and do a good job.

If you are the type that likes to think outside the box, you may decide that going back to school is not for you. You may decide that your life is taking a different path, but again, it is up to you.

You must also decide whether people will meet and grow rich with you. Every person you come in contact with, is going to somehow have an affect on your life, but the decisions you make will impact these people as well.

We Live In a Chaotic World

Posted By Twyla on January 25, 2008 @ 5:30 pm

You would be right on the mark if you were to say that the world is a much more chaotic place today than it ever has been before. That is not necessarily all bad, because even chaos can have benefits.

I think one reason for all of the chaos is that everyone has views and opinions on everything. One hundred years ago, people acted as they were expected to and no one spoke up, even if they didn’t agree with something.

If you were a woman one hundred years ago, you would not have even been entitled to your opinion. This is exactly why the chaos is not all bad. It is better to have a voice and be able to reason, than to be kept silent like you do not matter.

This chaotic world that we live in is full of opinions and reviews, and for that I am very thankful. I am glad to have a voice and I am glad that my voice will be heard. I know I matter now and, because of progress, always will.

Looking for One Source of Business Information

Posted By Admin on January 24, 2008 @ 12:05 pm

Sometimes I feel a little overwhelmed with the amount of information that is available online.  I mean, do a search on something you are interested in and you will find thousands, if no millions of sites about that subject.  Now, I don’t know about you, but I don’t have time to go through that many results - rather I need something a little more efficient.

So, I have been looking for the past week for somewhere that would have all the business information that I would need.  Right now I am looking to get into a home business, so what I am looking for is a business guide and home business reviews.  Many sites have one, but not the other, but I am persistent so I will keep looking.

I thought I had found what I was looking for yesterday at an online business information forum, but it didn’t have a section on home business.

So, I guess I will keep on the lookout for the type of resource I am looking for.  There has to be one source of business information somewhere out there…

Replica Watch Review

Posted By Twyla on January 23, 2008 @ 4:23 pm

I must admit that I am a bit of a miser. I don’t like to spend money unless I absolutely have to. That is why I was so excited when my brother brought a shipment of watch replicas into the jewelry store that he owns. I knew that is exactly what I needed for my budget.

The watches are really very nice, and although they are replica watches, they seem to be made of very good quality and are very nice looking. They don’t appear to be cheap and many people will be able to afford them that cannot afford high end watches.

My brother and I both wore a Rolex replica watch for a couple of weeks just for quality control and I am happy to report that they did not turn our skin green or fall apart. I would say that the quality is just as good as the higher end watch I usually wear. We were both happy with the results and they go on sale at the store tomorrow.

I Love Jewelry - I Can Admit It

Posted By Twyla on January 22, 2008 @ 5:48 pm

I love to look at unique designer jewelry. It fascinates me sometimes what people can create with metal string, gems and beads. I must admit that there are several pieces of jewelry I have seen that are completely hideous, but I have seen some really lovely ones, too.

I usually try to buy one piece of luxury jewelry every time I travel abroad. I figure that doing it this way, I will have pieces from different countries and each will be a reminder of my trip, as well as being something I could probably not find at home.

I also like to shop for cheaper pieces. I don’t wear designer jewelry unless I am dressing up, but if you know me at all, I never leave the house without any jewelry on. That is the reason for the everyday stuff. I have even worn necklaces that my young nieces have made for me out of wire and beads, and I am as proud of those pieces as my fancy ones.

Changing Furniture Preferences

Posted By Twyla on January 21, 2008 @ 11:36 am

My friend and I walked through a show home at the fair that was decorated completely in modern furniture. I was never a big fan of this until I saw what it looked like all together in the house. It looked so clean and sleek and I knew my furnishing preferences might be changing that very day.

I was especially impressed with the contemporary bedroom furniture. As my bedroom is done in a very traditional style, I was surprised at the total opposite style of the newer version. What surprised me most was that I would consider a whole style change from seeing one house.

Since then, I have been paying much more attention to contemporary furniture. There are still a lot of pieces that I do not care for, but I would say that I definitely have a more open mind. I think seeing it all  put together really helped in this aspect.

Looking at New Investments

Posted By Admin on January 20, 2008 @ 11:48 pm

I was down at the office yesterday going over some of the new deals that we will be looking at this week.  You see, we have been looking at a retail store chain in our area that has had a number of fires in their stores lately and they are looking to sell.

Now, you might wonder why anyone would want a company that is burning to the ground, so to speak.  Well, according to the store reviews, the return on most of their stores is good.  I mean really good.  A good return on investment is essential in this transaction and according to these numbers that we have, the stores are good performers.

You probably still don’t have the fires off your mind, do you?  Well, let me address that.  According to the insurance reviews that we have, there is an ongoing investigation into the management of the company for insurance fraud as all the fires were arsons.

The benefit for us is that in this time of turmoil, the company can be bought at a deep discount.  So, we are going to be deciding in the first few days of this week whether or not the company will be buying it - but I bet we will.  We just want to show our new online business academy graduate how we make our decision - it will be part of his training.

My Husband, My Teacher

Posted By Twyla on January 19, 2008 @ 12:02 pm

I asked my husband, who is a bit of a website promotion guru, what I could do myself to achieve higher search engine rankings. He gave me a variety of options and was proud that I was taking the initiative to learn instead of expecting him to do it for me.

He said that I would need to learn about online media before I started utilizing it for my own monetary gain. I thought that this was a good idea, so I took a fair bit of time to learn the ins and outs of search engines and how they rank websites.

When I completed this task, my husband taught me about article marketing. The more links that I had back to my site, the higher I was going to climb when people searched for my keywords.

I learned a lot about Internet marketing from both my husband, and from looking up the information on my own. I have started to put the knowledge into effect and am now waiting to see if it was worth it.

Cleaning My File Cabinet

Posted By Admin on January 18, 2008 @ 6:53 pm

I’ll have to admit that I am a pack rat.  I mean, I keep snippets from papers I read, cardboard from clothes I buy, and all the doodads that I have collected over a lifetime.  What does that mean?

I have a lot of junk.

This really hasn’t ever bothered me, but one website that had the best reviews on a social networking site enticed me to visit it.  Guess what it was about?

Pack rats.

Now, I have seen a lot of very cool websites in my time on the Internet, but this one was the best.  It had a plan on how to reduce the amount of junk you had accumulated and get out of the pack rat habit (that is what I would call it).

It was really a simple way to do it.  They suggested go through one thing (be it a dresser, closet, desk, file cabinet, etc.) and sort all the stuff into two piles:  one for just cool stuff, and the other for just stupid stuff.  What do you think you do with the stupid stuff?

Put it in the garbage or recycle it.

So, I have decided to tackle my file cabinet first to see how it goes - I hope I can break my pack rat habit.
