I was on the yearbook committee at my high school and we were always coming up with new fundraisers. We had done the cliché car washes and candy bar sales, but everyone does this, so we wanted to come up with something different. Something that would be unique and that everyone would want to be a part of.
I was really impressed with one suggestion that we purchase event tickets to some of the city’s upcoming concerts and raffle them off. I thought if we got tickets to some of the more popular entertainers, students would all be buying raffle tickets.
We decided to try it once and it went over very well. We made about fourteen times what we had paid for the tickets, which made it all worth it. We did this four times throughout the year and made enough money that we did not have to do any other fundraising. This certainly made my job as head of fundraising easy.
