Deals at the Health Food Store

Posted By Admin on August 24, 2008 @ 3:28 pm

I’ll have to admit that I am a bit of a nut when it comes to getting the flyers in the mail every weekend.  I love to bargain shop, and if I can get a deal on something, I do it.

So, I finally was able to find some time in the afternoon today to look at the flyers this weekend.  There was mostly just ones from the grocery stores, but I was pleasantly surprised to find one for our health food store in town.

They had some great deals in the flyer on barley grass and chlorella, and it even looks that they will now be carrying spirulina.  These are the three supplements that my alternative health doctor recommended that I take, and it is nice to be finally able to get them all in the same place.

I guess I will have to make a trip down there this week to go check it out - it has been too long since there were any deals down at the health food store.

My Own Oasis

Posted By Twyla on August 18, 2008 @ 11:38 am

When my husband and I moved to a new house, I knew that the outside was going to be my haven. I loved the big yard and I knew that it had tons of potential. I also knew that I wanted a Lantana hedge and I started reading everything that I could find about Lantana care.

After I had the hedge figured out, I started drawing up different landscaping designs that I wanted to be incorporating into the yard. The pictures that I had in my head of how it should look were so beautiful and I could not wait to have this oasis for myself.

I asked a friend, who has a beautiful yard of her own, if she had some landscaping design ideas that she could share with me. She came and looked at the yard and the ideas started to just flow out of her. We used a lot of her ideas, as well as many of my own, and I can honestly say that I have the nicest yard that I have ever seen.

Ordering Wedding Related Stock

Posted By Admin on August 8, 2008 @ 10:11 am

As the population in our small town is grown, so has the number of weddings held in our town each year.  You see, I live in a small resort community with one of the most amazing flower gardens in the country and people are finally realizing that it is a great place to have a wedding.

This realization is very good news for me.  As the owner of the general store in town, I have the opportunity supply these weddings with everything they need including decorations, neckties (in case someone forgets one), and cake toppers.

I’ve also decided this year that we would start offering silver cufflinks as well as customizable engraved cufflinks for our customers.  According to the supplier, these are big sellers during the wedding season and therefore I’ve ordered a small sample to see how they sell in our region.

With a few are more months to go, it is looking like this year will be the best year for sales with respect to wedding related items.

Broadsided by Debt

Posted By Twyla on August 7, 2008 @ 7:44 pm

Shortly after my husband passed away in a fatal car accident, I started looking into several debt diet plans. I knew that for the first time in my life, I had to take control of my financial future and that I was way too far in debt to keep up the pace and still support my kids.

The first thing I wanted to know was how to reduce credit card debt. As my husband had handled the finances in the marriage, I had no idea that we owed so much. I thought we may owe a little, but I was shocked at how big the number was. I was concerned that I was not going to be able to support my family.

I decided that I was going to do poor credit debt consolidation and stop using credit altogether. It made the most sense if I was ever going to get rid of the debt.

I would certainly advise any wife to know exactly what the financial situation is in their home at all times.

Roofing Research

Posted By Admin on August 5, 2008 @ 10:56 am

When my son and I decided to start our own RI roofing company, we thought that the first thing that we should do is to check out what the competition was going to be like. We wanted to go into it knowing that we would always have work available and that we could be competitive with the companies that had been around for years.

We did an online search on RI roofers, just to get a feel with how many may be out there. Surprisingly, the results were quite a bit smaller than I would have expected, but we thought that we should do a little bit more research anyway, to find out what the going rate was for most companies.

We also checked out RI roofing in the yellow pages and called around to most of the places, pretending that we needed a quote. What we found was that our prices were very reasonable and we did not have too much competition to make it worth our while.

We have been very busy ever since.

Trying to Figure Out Car Insurance

Posted By Admin on August 4, 2008 @ 10:12 am

One of the biggest challenges for me when I was on my own was to figure out which cheap auto insurance company to go with.  I had never bought car insurance before in my life, and with little experience (okay no experience) in the matter, I didn’t know what to do.

I decided to check out forums to see what other people were getting for a cheap car insurance rate and that helped me out a little.  Part of the difficulty was trying to find someone that had the same type of car that I had and lived in a similar region of the country.  It took a little doing, but I finally figured out what to do.

I was almost sure I knew what I was doing until I read a post about classic car insurance.  That confused me until I learned that it was for classic cars - something that I didn’t own.

I hate to think what I would have done if it were not for the Internet - I guess I just would have got insurance at the first place I found and spent more than I needed to.

Going for the Promotion

Posted By Twyla on August 1, 2008 @ 10:06 am

Since I finished college, I have spent my working life in hotels. I have not lived in them, but have worked in the hotel industry since then. I started out as a night auditor and worked my way up to management. When I heard about the Las Vegas hotel promotion from within the company I work for, I decided that I was going to apply for it.

The company only has a Las Vegas promotion about once every three years, and though I knew it would be hard to live in a new city, I knew that it was an experience I would not get for a long time if I did not take the chance right now.

As it turned out, they were handing out two Las Vegas hotel promotions at the time and I ended up getting on of them. As I prepare for my new life, I am nervous and scared, but I am still confident that I will do just fine.
