Effective Webmaster Tools

Posted By Admin on September 12, 2008 @ 4:27 am

Over the years as a webmaster, I have been many different roles in our organization.  I have been everything from a content writer, a web designer, to the SEO expert.  All throughout this experience, I have relied on software tools to assist me in the job that I was assigned to do and I thought that I would share a couple of my favorites with you.

One of the tools that I have relied on heavily over the years has been ALink, a reciprocal link manager.  This has been instrumental in building backlinks to the sites that I had been promoting as it provided a simple interface to organize my link exchanges with other related sites.

I also have used AMeta, a meta tag editor to help me make sure that I have each page of every site I create optimized properly for the search engines.  I found this software much easier than trying to code by hand and it has saved me a lot of time.

Though this list is not exhaustive, the above tools have been instrumental to my success online.  I wouldn’t be where I am today without them.

Essential Resources for Australian Companies

Posted By Admin on September 8, 2008 @ 4:18 pm

After creating a number of fairly successful businesses, I decided that it was time to try something new.  As an entrepreneur, I’m always looking for new ways to make a dollar and I had noticed for a long time that something was missing in Australia.

After talking to a number business owners, I found they were having problems filling their listings for administration jobs and HR jobs as there were no places that they could list their vacant positions and you get any kind of predictable results.

I know that you can argue that the whole hiring processes isn’t very predictable, but if I was able to provide fellow business owners with a venue in which to list their ads for jobs in Australia, I would be able to fulfill the needs of many companies and future employees all at one time.

As it turns out, the website was a resounding success and it has become one of the most popular job search websites in all of Australia.

Playing Games with My Brother

Posted By Twyla on September 6, 2008 @ 2:12 pm

When my brother and I first started live action role playing, we did not know much about it. We had heard good things about it being a lot of fun and we thought it might be something that we could really get into. The first few times we played, it was with just a few people and it was alright, but we wanted more.

We went online and found a larp forum so that we could learn more about this hobby that was starting to become such an important part of our lives. We drank in as much information as we possibly could and then we started adding to the forum as well.

The best thing the forum did for us was find us a CT larp group that we could join. Now we can virtually play whenever we want as there are always several people interested in a game. We both love it and it is great that we found some common ground that we could go and do together.

New Rug Shipment

Posted By Admin on September 5, 2008 @ 9:32 am

We have been trying to sell different products in our store this year and so far they have been met with a good response from our customers.  We have brought in such things as high-end cookware, draperies, and karastan rugs.

Actually, since we have introduced these new items, our sales have increased dramatically.  It seems that most customers that come into our store walk our with at least one karastan rug - definitely one of our best sellers this year.

In fact, we have increased the size of our home furnishings section because of this.  This has gone over very well with our customers and they appreciate the offerings that we have.  We have the largest selection in town, and the increase in the number of customers coming into the store is a direct result of this.

Our only problem so far has been the sporadic supply of karastan rugs to our store - sometimes we get them, most of the time we don’t.  We have been trying to find a new supplier, and hopefully we will be able to take care of it this week.

I guess there is a shipment that just showed up - better go put it out on the sales floor.

Sharing what I Have Learned Online

Posted By Admin on September 4, 2008 @ 12:16 pm

One of my favorite things about the Internet is the opportunity to be able to share my knowledge with others.  Sure, I don’t know everything, but chances are that if I learn something new today, someone could benefit from that knowledge.

Thanks to blogs and the many other sites that are online now that allow you to create your own little site about a topic, this is easier than ever.  In fact, I have been trying this out with some success - with the number of comments I have received, it is obviously something that everyone is interested in.

So, I have decided to take this one step further, and now offer reviews on software that I have been using.  For example, I have been using SpyHunter as my solution for keeping spyware off of my computer.  So, it would only be natural to write a SpyHunter review to share whether or not I like it, right?

New Televisions are Missing One Key Thing

Posted By Admin on September 3, 2008 @ 11:40 am

If you have seen the new plasma and LCD televisions on the market, I would bet that you would agree with me that they are definitely a step ahead in terms of picture quality and size compared to the old tube televisions.  Even with all these praises, there is one thing that they are missing:

Effective TV screen protection.

Unlike the old tube televisions that had a glass screen, these new televisions mostly have softer screens that can be easily damaged, destroying the picture quality and your experience watching your expensive television.

Thankfully, you are now able to buy a TV screen protector that protects the screen from damage for an inexpensive investment.  Maybe in the future it will be included with the televisions, and then they will be perfect.
