In recent years, there is increasing trend toward reading ebooks instead of traditional books.

While most people still read traditional books instead of ebooks, if the trend continues there is a good chance that several years from now there will be just as many people reading ebooks as those reading traditional books.

You might even see that traditional books will someday disappear. But why do more and more people read ebooks these days?

There are two important reasons why e-books are becoming increasingly popular over traditional books.

First, you can easily carry a lot of ebooks wherever you go.

With traditional books you will have to carry a large and heavy bag to do that. But with ebooks, all you need to bring is a device like a cell phone or PDA in which you store your ebooks.

There is no difference between carrying just one ebook and one thousand of them. It’s like bringing a library along with you wherever you go.

A second reason is the the ability search within ebooks.

With traditional books, the index is the only tool you can use to find a topic you are interested in. But the index sometimes can’t give you what you need and you must then search the text manually.

This problem doesn’t happen on ebooks since you can easily use the search feature to find exactly what you want. I don’t know about you, but for me this is a great benefit since I often need to refer to parts of books for writing purposes.

There is a good chance that these two benefits become more and more important for many people in the coming years. As people become more mobile and information oriented, those two benefits of ebooks will make them the preferred choice over traditional books.
