When navigating the supermarket the best plan is to shop the perimeters to start with. The majority of supermarkets are set up in a comparable style. Perhaps there is a basis or it may be just for expediency. Even so most supermarkets will do anything they can to help you the customer buy as much as possible.

The unpreserved things, which also happen to be the healthiest items, are all around the outside perimeter of the store. The produce section with the fruits and vegetables, the dairy department and the butcher block and deli all tend to be around the edges of the store. All of the less processed and healthiest foods are found close to the edges. These are the foods that will give you the most nourishment for the money you spend. Most stores also set up sale items at the end of the aisles.

In the center of the store is where you will find the canned goods, boxed goods, and all of the highly processed foods counting cookies, candies, potato chips, beverages and more. Regularly these tend to be closer to the produce section of the store.

On over but still in the center are the paper products, the cleaning products and the beauty items. Towards the front and side here is where you will regularly find the pharmacy and the in store bank if they have one.

Some stores will have their frozen section in the middle, while others will have it on the far side opposite the produce aisle. Occasionally there is a superstore that will have both a chilled section on the outside and the frozen section in the center.

The best plan is to shop the perimeters for all the perishables to begin with and then move on to the interior of the store. That way you will be confident that you are loading up on the healthiest things first. If you are trying to get the peak nutritional worth for your grocery funds try to stay away from the middle of the store as much as possible. The peak nutrition items are on the perimeter. Most of the stuff in the middle is processed and boxed and not really the healthiest foods for your body.

If you plan your shopping and have your coupons prepared you can usually go right to the items that you want and that way you can stay away from too much whim buying that plays chaos with your funds.

As you shop around at the stores in your area you will soon know just which stores really have the lowest prices and which stores will work best for you when you are using your coupons.
