I come from a long line of firefighters. From my Great, Great Grandfather all the way down to my oldest son, our family has carried a proud tradition of fighting fires to protect American folks. Even after 22 years, anytime I hear a siren my heart races. I can tell by watching my father that he also feels the urge to get to work protecting America’s families each time a siren calls. Because of his dedication to firefighting, when it came time for him to retire, I knew I wanted to get him a gift he’d treasure the rest of his life.
I got online and started searching for firefighting paraphernalia. Although it was easy to find stuffed Dalmatians and model trucks, I knew those wouldn’t be right for my dad. These didn’t grab my interest, though; I was looking for something really special. One possible gift that did peak my interest was a pole from a demolished fire station. As I thought about it, though, I wasn’t sure where he would keep it or if he’d want something like that in the house. I knew that my mom might not be too happy about it. My parents didn’t have a huge house. Firefighting isn’t the most lucrative career choice. But he has a lot of land, so I thought I should find something that could go outside.
I searched the internet again when suddenly I saw the advertisement that grabbed me: Antique Fire Trucks for sale. Although I initially thought that something like this would be completely out of my range, I was amazed to find that antique fire trucks for sale were surprisingly affordable, and there was an amazing selection of antique fire trucks for sale. All of these incredible old fashioned antique fire trucks for sale were listed neatly one on top of the other. I knew I’d found a special gift for my dad.
As I marveled at the great selection of antique fire trucks for sale, I narrowed my final selection down to two trucks. One truck was truly an antique, with wooden spoked wheels, and the other, more modern truck was a 1965 Howe. Although I knew my dad would appreciate the nostalgia of the older truck, he’d actually driven a 1965 Howe on calls when he was younger. With all of the antique fire trucks for sale, it wasn’t an easy decision, but I finally settled on the Howe.
I made sure I was at my parents’ house the day the fire truck was to be delivered. When my dad opened the door and saw it, he was completely overwhelmed. He grinned from ear to ear as he examined each part of the truck. These days, I can always count on finding him polishing his truck when I stop by the house. My younger kids climb up on the truck and listen as their granddad tells them stories from his days as a firefighter. If you want to get the firefighter in your life a gift he’ll never forget, take a look at antique fire trucks for sale.
