The top way to get the most nutritional usefulness for your grocery buck is by shopping the perimeters of the grocery store first. Almost every supermarket is set up in about the same way and every store will do anything they can to get you to buy more and more.

The perishable items, which also happen to be the healthiest items, are all around the outside edge of the store. The produce section with the fruits and vegetables, the dairy department and the butcher block and deli all tend to be around the edges of the store. All of the less processed and healthiest foods are found near the edges. These are the foods that will give you the most sustenance for the money you pay out. Most stores also set up sale items at the top of the aisles.

In the center of the store are the less healthful and more processed foods. There is where you will come across the canned goods, the food in boxes and all of the less nutritious items like potato chips, cookies, candies and soda pop.

Still in the middle but as a rule on the other side are the paper products, the cleaning items and the beauty supplies. Towards the front of the store on the same side is usually where you will find the pharmacy. If the store has a bank inside it is usually close to that.

Some supermarkets have the freezing items in the center but sometimes you can find them on the side. Every once in awhile there is a store where the frozen section is in the center and the frozen section is on the outside border next to the dairy.

The best plan is to shop the perimeters for all the perishables in the beginning and then move on to the inside of the store. That way you will be positive that you are loading up on the healthiest things first. If you are trying to get the peak nutritional worth for your grocery resources try to stay away from the center of the store as much as feasible. The utmost nutrition things are on the outside. Most of the stuff in the middle is processed and boxed and not really the healthiest foods for your body.

If you explore out the ads and the coupons initially you can usually go right to the items that you want to buy and evade the impulse shopping that tends to upset your grocery budget.

If you check out most of the stores in your neighborhood you will soon find out which ones have the lowest prices and which ones will help you the best when you are using your coupons and rebates.
