I owned a number of Nikon SLR digital cameras so far, and in this article I will talk about the D90 model.
D90 Pros: The ISO capability is the same as that of Nikon D300. The layout is very intuitive, something that Nikon is recognized for. The number of frames per second, card access and fast focus. The ability to make videos, a first for a DSLR.
If you live in a far-flung place in a third world country with no known nearby offices of camera companies, you can still FedEx your camera to a repair center. Just make sure you include your credit card number so they can charge you for their services. Another option would be to send it directly to the importing company.
If the toughness of the kit lens that comes with the camera isn’t important for you, this camera is a good choice. If you’re a bit more advanced and you want better lenses, you can wait a bit and buy only the body, which shows up after the release of the kit.
Know, however, that there some manufacturers who don’t want to bother with models that are over 20 years old. These guys will simply tell you that there are no longer any parts available for your vintage camera model.
The sensor of the model I bought, the D90, is the same with the one that comes with the D300 camera, so the ISO capabilities are the same. Some of the reviews I read said that the noise reduction of the D90 model is better than it was for D300. If you also use the Nikon VR lenses, you can take good photos at very reduced shutter speeds.
A few more waterproof digital camera tips include selecting the right camera. If you plan to take underwater shots, you need to find a camera that has different scene modes for underwater picture taking.
If you live in New England, you’ve probably heard of Steve Grimes - the only camera legend living in the area. He can help you out with all sorts of large format issues and problems with customize machining. He also does lens mounting, large format shutter repairs, etc. You can check out his website at skgrimes.com and contact him through 401-762-0857.
Many people will do OK with the kit lens of this camera, but it could’ve been much better. All in all, the camera is very good. I just wish it had some weather proofing, though at this price you can’t really expect that. Besides that, this camera does it all at an OK level. Some problems exist though, and the four stars rating reflects just that.
