They will always be a holiday irritation, mosquitoes. You’re enjoying one of your lovely caribbean holidays getting lots of sun and suddenly (often overnight) you find yourself covered in loads of itchy bites. More often that not it is us that is encroaching on their ground so its to be expected really that they take advantage. Our discomfort does not have to be a certainly though. Put into action these pieces of advice if you get bitten and you’ll be happy again in no time.
1.) Soap and water should be used to clean out the bite and also the area surrounding it. In order to reduce the amount of swelling that will take place and decrease the chances of picking up an infection the bite, clean it as soon as you possible can. You should continue to keep all bites clean until they have gone down, especcially if your somewhere that maybe has lower standards of cleanliness such as Thailand holidays
2.) Use ice wrapped in some form of cloth and place onto bites.This will cool the surrounding area and reduce blood flow to the bite site. This will then cause general itching and pain relief as well as work to reduce the swelling effect
3.) Try using some baking soda and salt as a natural form of treatment. Mix the baking soda with water until it forms a paste, and then add a spoonful of salt. The baking soda will bring down swelling and the salt will decrease itching. Alternatively you can use natural aloe vera location to do a similar job
4.) You can always use specific medications on the bite as well. A tropical anaesthetic that contains pramxomin or calamine lotion will help with irritation and pain. To test for any adverse effects that the medications might have, try them on one bite to start with and stop using if they make them worth.
5.) Treatment tablets are another way to reduce the side effects of mosquito bites. An anti-histamine will work to reduce the bodies negative response to the bite and will generally make you feel better. Anti-inflammatory drugs like ibuprofen do pretty much the same job but better reduce swelling
