I have been considering setting up a web store for some time now, but I have been having issues deciding what to sell online. It is not that it is really tough to find something, but I have been looking for something that has the highest markup possible.
So, I have been searching high and low for the "right" thing to sell. During my search, I passed up things such as Magick Talismans, Magick Spells & Rituals, and others. There just really wasn’t much of a market for these things (from what I could see), so I moved on to find other things.
As it turns out, I was able to find the perfect thing for my business: Amulets & Charms. What I liked about these items was that the markup was good, and the shipping cost was small. It looked like the perfect combination for me.
So, all I have to do is find a few more items to sell and then I think I will setup shop. I just can’t wait until the money rolls in!
My cousin just finished high school and had to find a job in the real world. He is bright, but from the times that I have talked to him, he really expressed no interest in furthering his education by attending college.
He had no problem getting a job, but it was clear after a couple of months that he wasn’t happy. He didn’t like working hours set by someone else for such little pay - he had always had an entrepreneurial spirit in him.
I suggested that he follow his passion of motorcycles and do something along those lines. Though I didn’t know what he should do, I told him that the best idea would be to do a little brainstorming and soul searching to figure out what he wanted to be when he grew up and take steps to make that happen.
When I spoke with him a month later, he had become a Cycle Trader, helping others find the perfect motorcycle for their budget and he was enjoying providing the service to his clients. He had finally found his calling.
With the growth my business has been experiencing, it is time for us to get our first business credit card. This would not only help us have better tracking for our bill payments, but give us credit on demand should we need it.
Since I’ve never applied for a business credit card before, I decided that it might be smart to look at some review websites and make my decision based on the credit card ratings given to each card. Specifically, I’m looking for sites that allow user ratings so that I can see what other business owners experiences have been with the cards I am looking at.
I will just have to remember that even though there are many business credit cards available, the business really only needs one. So I will just have to make sure that I pick the best for us and our company.
A friend of mine owns and operates a brick-and-mortar kitchen supply store. They provide everything from kitchen accessories to kitchen appliances at prices that are very inexpensive compared to other businesses in town.
They have been doing some research over the past few months to see how well their business would do if they had an online division. According to the research that they have done, their prices are similar and quite often cheaper than other retailers in their industry.
Then contracted a web design firm to design an online storefront for them and to find a company to provide them with the Internet merchant accounts that they will need to accept payment online. Things are coming together very quickly and she is hoping to have the store open before May.
From the customers that she is mentioned her plans to, it looks like she will have a very positive response from her customers and should have no problems succeeding online.
My wife and I have one thing in common: we are both artists. In fact, we met each other in art school and have not looked back since. Though we have done a few graphic design jobs, we thought that if we started a graphic design company we could both spend time doing what we love.
Before we decided to do this though, we needed to research are potential competition to see if the quality work that we did was as good or exceeded the services they offered. Looking online, we noticed that the graphic design firms in town did not offer work at the same level as the designs we create.
We decided that we would try and offer our services online first and provided that they were successful, we would open up a store in town. We are just making the finishing touches on our website and hope to launch it in the next week. We decided that will give this project a three-month period to become profitable, and should that not happen we will shut it down.
If everything goes well, this business will be our opportunity to share our artistic talents with the world.
When I was in college, I would make sure to take as many classes as I could that were offered in both the first and second term. I would take them in the first term with the intention of selling my assignments and the dissertation writing that I had done to a student taking a class in the second term to help pay for my tuition.
As it turned out, it was a very successful business venture since many students were very interested in custom research papers that would give them the edge when it came to high marks. Even though most of them would rewrite a version of my essays, part of the conditions of the sale was that they wouldn’t submit the exact same paper that I had given them.
It wasn’t too hard to find a student that would buy research papers, but I sure had to make sure that none of the college faculty found out as it might have risked getting expelled from school. Thankfully I dodged that bullet, and I made it through college covering half of my tuition with the completed coursework that I sold.
When I realized how many Pakistanis in Calgary ran their own businesses, I was very impressed. I knew when I came to Canada that I would run my own business, but I was not exactly sure what that would be. I knew I would have to see what was needed once I got here.
The first thing I had to do when I got settled in my new country was to do a class 7 knowledge test so that I might be able to eventually drive here. I loved driving back home and I could not imagine a life where I could not drive.
I deduced that there were a lot of Pakistani restaurants, so I did not want to open another. I decided that I would open a store that specialized in Pakistani foods. I thought that I might have less competition from my fellow Pakistanis if I did this.
I have been here now for five years and the store does well and I can drive!
For the longest time I have been considering creating a course to sell. You see, there is a market for the few things that I am good at such as playing the piano and cooking. But when I looked into each, one of them was guaranteed to be a winner while the other would do alright, but not exceptional.
So at that point, I decided to leave the cooking course behind and focus on creating a learn & master the piano course. Having played the piano for most of my life, I knew that I had the talent that would be needed, but I was unsure as to whether or not I had the teaching ability.
At that point, I expressed my concerns to a good friend of mine, Brett. He owns a video creation company, and he offered to help me create a video tutorial series to go along with the course. It was a very good idea.
So, now I am just putting the finishing touches on my course before it goes live. There is still a bit of writing to do before I am ready to ship the final product, but it is exciting to see it finally coming together. I have been waiting a long time for this.
When you work all the time at any office, there comes a time when you need a change. Perhaps you have some old office chairs that just don’t work so well anymore. Perhaps you need a change to help you feel inspired. But whatever the reason, there just comes a time when you need to make a change to move forward.
That is exactly how I felt about my home office furniture. I have been using the same desk and chair for more than five years, and I am really starting to hate them. They are old, worn out, and show signs of wear.
The problem for me is that when I have clients over, I need to make a good impression. My worn out office furniture just tells the customer that things are not going well, and I am too poor to buy a new desk.
So I am on a quest to remodel my home office - but I have just started. I feel the final product will make life at work better and more enjoyable. I can’t wait.
I own a small business where we sell parts at wholesale prices. We are not a mechanic shop, but we do supply to a lot of the local mechanics. We deal mostly with American car parts, but will do our best to get any automobile part that is needed. We are usually able to get parts in on very short notice and that is one of the reasons we do well as a business.
As we do try to get in any part that is needed, I was shocked when we had a gentleman show up the other day and ask if we could order him a set of skid steer tires. I must admit that we have never had a request like this before and I was quite taken aback. I got his name and phone number, though, and promised him that I would try my best to see what I could find.
I did a little bit of calling to my suppliers and got the name of a company that I could try to contact, that might have what I was looking for. I called and was pleasantly surprised that they had exactly what I needed. They shipped it to me immediately and I had one happy customer. I gave him a catalog and told him when he needed skid steer tracks he knew where to come.
