My Hope for Some Day

Posted By Admin on July 18, 2008 @ 10:48 am

When I was going to medical school to become an optometrist, I was very interested in learning more about LASIK surgery. I knew that it was something that I would like to do one day and I focused a lot of my education on that very fact.

When I was in school, LASIK prices were phenomenal, but the prices of the surgery have greatly decreased since then. There are more and more people having the surgery now and I love helping people get rid of their glasses once and for all.

With so many new LASIK types, anyone who has less than perfect vision would be a great candidate for surgery. I am hoping to one day own my own clinic and I think that it would be great if one day everyone would be able to have the option of a long term vision repair, rather than fixing the problem with corrective lenses.

Discovering a Great Thing

Posted By Twyla on May 24, 2008 @ 4:45 pm

When I was doing a study on environmental toxins, I came across a product that seemed too good to be true. I am a natural skeptic, so when I was reading about the healthful benefits of Zeolite, I was sure that it was just another scam to rip off people who were concerned about the world and all of the chemicals that could not be avoided.

I decided, though, that I could not be too judgmental on a product that I was not even willing to try. It is like having a child that says he does not like a certain kind of food when he has never even tasted it. Always one for trying new things, I decided to order some and then I knew I would be able to be critical of it if it didn’t work.

Much to my shock and amazement, I found the bottle of liquid Zeolite to be one of the most beneficial things that I have ever put into my body. I am no longer skeptical about it, as it may be the greatest discovery that I have ever made for myself. I am a big fan now and I have made all of my friends and family try it.

Covered by Insurance

Posted By Twyla on May 17, 2008 @ 11:13 pm

As I was looking into my medical insurance information, I found out that I had the coverage to get CPAP equipment at no cost to me.  I wish that I had found this a lot sooner as not too long ago, I spent a lot of money buying a Bipap when I could have had a machine covered at no cost.

I guess that this is my own fault as I never really looked into it before the fact and I’m glad to know that next time I need something it will be available to me at no cost.  In fact, I will soon need a new sleep apnea mask and since I will not have to pay for it this time, I might just get two.

I am actually still holding on to hope that one day I may not need any of this equipment as I am still hoping that this is one thing that may go away over time.  I have heard, that if I lost some weight it might make a the difference between me needing the machine or needing nothing at all.

The Foot Bone’s Connected to the … Ankle Bone

Posted By Deb Gallardo on May 14, 2008 @ 11:41 am

If someone had asked you last week the likelihood that you would be having foot and ankle surgery in Orange County, California, you would have told them they were crazy. But that was before you tripped over your own feet going down the steps at the convention center and broke your ankle.

And before you spent a horrific six hours in the emergency room in absolute agony without a sole to talk to, without a book to read, without a television to distract you, without being able to sleep. You learned the visceral meaning of “stir crazy.”

A nurse explains that a six-car accident has kept them busy with priority care. You feel guilty for being resentful. You may be in pain but you’re not fighting for your life.

Finally they admit you and take you to your room. Your surgery is scheduled for 6:00 a.m. They drug you for the night. All is well.

Assisted Sleep

Posted By Admin on May 11, 2008 @ 2:46 pm

I have had problems sleeping for many years now and I have tried pretty much everything without much success.  I have had a fan blowing by my bed, calming music, and even tried sleeping pills, but nothing really has worked for me.

I was almost at the point of giving up and just accepting the fact that I was never going to have a good night sleep, when I came across a thing called a "sleep machine".

Now, at first I thought it would be something crazy like a time machine, but I was mistaken.  Basically it would filter out the surrounding sounds and allow me to sleep in peace and quiet.  It sounded a little far-fetched, but I thought that I should give it a try.

What a great idea!

Now, I don’t have any troubles getting to sleep at night, and I am more restful than I have been my entire life.  I am so lucky to have found a tool that can help me sleep better than before.

Finding Mom Some Good Care

Posted By Twyla on May 7, 2008 @ 10:55 pm

For once in my life, I would love to be a part of a medical community that had the best interests of the patients in mind, rather than being focused on money and what could be gained from the patients. I have seen my elderly mother be treated for far too many things that needed no treatment just because there was a quick buck to be earned because of her fake diagnosis.

The last time this happened, I had finally had enough. I gave the doctor a piece of my mind and before we left, he actually admitted to me that perhaps he had been a little bit hasty at prescribing the medication that he had and that maybe she didn’t need it after all.

I told him that she would not be back and I made it my mission to find her a doctor that cared enough about her and her well being to treat her for what she needed and nothing more. We found one that has been great so far and I figure that as long as I keep my fingers crossed, it will be good for as long as she needs him.

Looking for a New Look

Posted By Admin on March 29, 2008 @ 1:29 pm

newcoloriris-before-and-after I don’t know about you, but I am tired of looking at my worn out eyes each and every day in the mirror.  What used to be a sparkly blue is now dull and faded.  I don’t know if it is because I am getting older (not that I would admit it), or if they are just getting a little worn out.  But whatever it is, I believe it is time to change my eye color.

So, I have been looking for ways that allow you to change your eye color.  I quickly dismissed the idea of getting contacts due to the health implications with your eyes.  Instead, I thought that it would be better to find a procedure that I could do that would change my eye color permanently.

I found a company called New Color Iris that does a medical procedure that allows you to do an eye color change safely and permanently.  From looking at their website, it looks like it is pretty simple and clear cut solution, though I think I will read up a bit before I do it.  But, it sure does look like the solution to my fading eye color.

The Changing Face of Health Food Stores

Posted By Twyla on March 25, 2008 @ 7:11 pm

I have a friend who has been working in a health food store for years now and I am very surprised at how drastically different they are now than they were years ago. I remember when it was all about natural weight loss supplement supplies and protein powders and that kind of thing.

It has evolved so much and serves so many more purposes now than it did years ago. While I was waiting in the store to go for lunch with my friend, a lady came in to pick up her supplements for thyroid care. I was surprised that the store catered to not only the fitness junkies anymore, but to the general public.

I mentioned this to my friend and she said that they had certainly come a long way. She said that they actually now carried ADD/ADHD natural treatments for children and that most parents felt so much better giving their child a natural treatment over a prescription drug. I agreed with her and am glad to say I might actually find a use for the place yet.

New Advocate For Hypnosis To Stop Smoking

Posted By Twyla on March 20, 2008 @ 7:47 pm

My father is a huge advocate for stop smoking hypnosis. He was a smoker for thirty-five years and we all hassled and begged him to stop. His brother died from lung cancer and we were very afraid that he was going to follow the same path. I am sure he was sick of us nagging him, so he agreed to go and see a hypnotist.

He went the very next day and I am happy to report that he smoked his last cigarette in the car on the way to the session. I was so amazed that it would work the very first time. I had always thought that it was something that you would have to go back for many sessions before you would see the result.

Ironically, my dad cannot stand the smell of smoke now. He likes to hand his hypnotist’s business card to all of his smoking buddies, telling them that it will certainly work for them. He says that it is the best money he ever spent and all the money that he is saving by not buying cigarettes, he is putting away to take himself up north on a fishing trip this coming summer.

Saving my Sister

Posted By Twyla on March 13, 2008 @ 10:59 am

When my sister was diagnosed with cancer last year, she decided that she was going to try and fight it with diet and vitamin intake rather than with chemicals and drugs. A friend of hers gave her a bottle of liquid vitamins and now, cancer free, she swears by them.

The vitamins are from GBG and it is a mixture of many different vitamins. She is probably the company’s biggest promoter now, and I must say that I am a fan as well, because they played a part in me still having my sister around. I can’t say anything bad about them because of it.

I guess if there was anything negative to say about them is that it is sold through MLM companies. I am not a big fan of this, but when it is a product that I can totally stand behind and be able to give real accounts of how great it is, I figure I may as well share the news with the world. Everyone has been affected by cancer and so this product is for everyone.
