One of the biggest challenges for me when I was on my own was to figure out which cheap auto insurance company to go with. I had never bought car insurance before in my life, and with little experience (okay no experience) in the matter, I didn’t know what to do.
I decided to check out forums to see what other people were getting for a cheap car insurance rate and that helped me out a little. Part of the difficulty was trying to find someone that had the same type of car that I had and lived in a similar region of the country. It took a little doing, but I finally figured out what to do.
I was almost sure I knew what I was doing until I read a post about classic car insurance. That confused me until I learned that it was for classic cars - something that I didn’t own.
I hate to think what I would have done if it were not for the Internet - I guess I just would have got insurance at the first place I found and spent more than I needed to.
As much as I hate it, sometimes I need to buy new insurance. The last time that I had to get anything, I was looking for an auto insurance quote - but that was many years ago.
But when we moved to Ontario, we needed to find a home insurance company that would insure our new home. Since we didn’t know what firm in town had the best rates, or would offer the best coverage, we turned to the Internet to see what we could find.
We had little difficulty finding companies in town by searching for home insurance Toronto online. We were able to quickly get quotes and print them off so that we could compare them side by side. This made it a lot easier for me as I work during the day and cannot go to each insurance company.
I was able to narrow it down to a couple of companies with whom I spoke with on the phone. We made our decision thanks to the information we found online.
My best friend and I live in different states, but we talk to each other every day on the phone. She recently bought a new car and somehow the topic of auto insurance came up. I was stunned when I found out what she was paying. My car insurance was more than twice what she was paying and my car was over eight years old. This did not make sense to me and I wondered how it could be so different just because she lived in a different state than I did.
I decided that I was going to call around and get some different auto insurance quotes, to see if it really was about location. I found out that I was being completely ripped off and I ended up saving a ton of money by switching to the same company that she was using. I guess it pays to compare before buying.
As I was looking into my medical insurance information, I found out that I had the coverage to get CPAP equipment at no cost to me. I wish that I had found this a lot sooner as not too long ago, I spent a lot of money buying a Bipap when I could have had a machine covered at no cost.
I guess that this is my own fault as I never really looked into it before the fact and I’m glad to know that next time I need something it will be available to me at no cost. In fact, I will soon need a new sleep apnea mask and since I will not have to pay for it this time, I might just get two.
I am actually still holding on to hope that one day I may not need any of this equipment as I am still hoping that this is one thing that may go away over time. I have heard, that if I lost some weight it might make a the difference between me needing the machine or needing nothing at all.
I have just purchased a life insurance policy on both me and my husband. I know that if something were to happen to him that the kids and I would be in really big trouble. I am a stay at home mom and so the only income that is coming in is through my husband’s job. Without that, we would be unable to survive.
The policy I bought has a large enough payout that it would support me and the kids until they are all teenagers, at which point I could return to work. It will also cover their University tuition when the time comes. My husband agreed that it was the proper thing to do.
The policy on me has a much lower payout, but would cover childcare expenses, as well as the kids’ college tuition. It gives me a much better peace of mind knowing that everyone is going to be taken care of should something happen to either one of us.
Since my sister has just moved out of my parents house, she has been having some new experiences. Things such as paying bills, finding an apartment, and driving herself around. I must admit that she has done a good job adapting to her new life, but she did come to me for help.
You see, she received a California Life Insurance quote in the mail and she didn’t know if it was a good deal or not. She wanted me to read it over to see what I thought.
Honestly, I have never really been good with these types of things, but I have a friend that sells life insurance for a living. I asked him to take a look and tell us what he thought.
As it turns out, it is a good deal for the price and I think that she will sign up. It feels really good to help my baby sister out.
Rather than waste a whole bunch of my time calling around to numerous insurance companies, I thought that I would try one of those online companies that will compare insurance quotes. I figured that I would get hours worth of calling into one small click of the mouse. If only it were that easy.
I got my car insurance quotes and they were all exceptionally higher than what I was currently paying. I wondered if prices had really gone up that much in the past year, or if they were just trying to rip me off. I put a call in to my current insurance company to see what they would have to say about it.
I told them that my insurance was coming up for renewal and was wondering if they could please give me an auto insurance quote. Well. Wonder of all wonders, they quoted me even less than what I was currently paying. I renewed it right then and there and decided from now on I would just stick with what I know.
I have just currently purchased individual medical insurance. My husband has family coverage through work, but I have recently been diagnosed as a diabetic and I knew that we would end up needing more coverage than we have. So, I thought I would look into buying just for myself.
I ended up choosing a package that also included accident health insurance. It was not all that much more money and I thought this would protect me should something happen to me while I was away from home. I feel so much better knowing that our finances will not be drained should something happen.
As an added bonus, the company threw in individual vision insurance plans as well. I know that vision can become a big problem for a lot of diabetics. I currently have perfect vision, but who knows what will happen down the road from here. I am covered in all ways and that is security.
My mother was recently diagnosed with Diabetes. Since she is retired, she lives on a low fixed income. Now, what concerns me the most is whether or not the amount of money she receives each month will be enough to cover her medical needs with her new disease.
If you look at some of the pamphlets in the doctor’s office, it sure is scary. Most of them suggest that the average person with Diabetes needs at least $13,000 per year be able to afford the necessary equipment and drugs to control the disease. That would be over half her income - which is not good.
I was reading through a brochure there and found out that her Medicare Part B coverage will help with some of the expenses, but it won’t be enough. We will have to find some sort of Medicare supplement that will pay for the rest of her bills - it won’t take long for her to use her savings up based on the amount of money she will be spending.
It was really nice that the doctor was able to give her a free diabetes testing kit to start out, it is one thing that she won’t have to buy. I am so thankful that she has medicare coverage - if she didn’t I don’t know what we would do.
Most people have life insurance - they basically insure themselves against death - and should they die, their loved ones should be taken care of financially. Now, what about insurance that can benefit you while you are alive? No, I am not talking about car insurance, home insurance, or other types of insurance on the stuff you own. Rather I am talking about an insurance policy on you - have you ever heard of that?
Up until a few days ago, I had no idea. In fact, some blogs I read educated me about some things I should have insured. Do you know one of the biggest things people don’t insure and this lack of insurance usually leads to financial ruin, or at the least, poverty?
Your health.
That’s right. You probably wouldn’t have guessed it - I know I had no idea. But understand this - think of your three closest friends and listen to this: three out of four of you will need some type of long term care in your lifetimes. Now, this can be as simple as home care, to an extended stay in a nursing home.
Now that I have your mind rolling, what does this affect the most for you besides your health?
Your finances. In fact, based on the current prices for long term care, most retirement savings would be wiped out in less than a year - not an exciting proposition. Once the retirement savings is gone, quite often your children will end up paying the bill for your care. This can cause many things like financial ruin, divorce, and anger towards you.
How do you avoid the financial and family problems?
That is simple - plan ahead. Now, you can buy some long term care insurance to pay for your possible future long term care needs - and leave your children’s money out of it. The prices are quite reasonable for the insurance policy - talk to an expert to help you setup some coverage. Don’t procrastinate - or you may have to spend your retirement nest egg - you didn’t save all your life to blow it all at once, did you?
