Live band bookings are becoming an increasingly popular choice of entertainment at personal parties and corporate events. The bands are live and the audience are usually captivated. Live band bookings are one way to ensure that your event will be one to remember and will hopefully get a few people bopping on the dance floor.

Live band bookings put money back into your local music industry and give your local bands the exposure that they deserve.

When you book a live band, always be sure to source premier booking agents so that you can relax knowing that your band is being effectively supervised. Besides being quite costly, live bands can be somewhat demanding so a live band booking needs good management to ensure that your live band is on time and given the attention they are accustomed to. Live band booking management should also oversee the payments and deal with other related issues.

If you are planning on booking a live band, start by deciding what type of music and from which decade would best suit your event. Tribute and cover bands will perform a wide variety of the music of yesteryear and with golden oldies cranking out at your party, everyone’s bound to have a sing and dance. If you’re after a current live band playing the charts, be prepared to pay that bit extra and look forward to wowing your guests with concert-like effects. Or you could opt for an iconic live band which is a great choice for nostalgic homegrown music.

Live band bookings are simple. Sourcing a premier booking agent on the internet is more than adequate. You could also contact the group to gain information as to which company manages them. They will more than likely pass you on to their booking agent to avoid dealing directly with a client as their management will be used to looking after them and will use the advantage of this relationship to better organise your event.

Corporations often have larger budgets for coordinating events which makes it possible for them to hook up a live band for their do but if you’re fortunate enough to have the budget for a live band booking at your personal event, go ahead and get one!

A live band booking brings with it that x-factor that turns any occasion into an awesome night out.

How To Play Bubbly by Colbie Caillat

If your looking for a good beginners song to play on guitar the following is a guide for how to play Bubbly by Colbie Caillat. It’s a great radio pop song.

One of the first things you realize when learning guitar is that you can play songs in many different ways, adapting them to suit your own technical capability. True to this, it’s possible to play Bubbly in various ways.

In the video I’ve made for how to play Bubbly I’ve selected an easy version of the song to teach with beginners on guitar in mind. Part of this process involves using a Capo to make the chords appear in open position thus avoiding any need for Barre Chords.

Like most beginner guitar songs, this one can be played through with just 4 chords covering you for all the verses and choruses. Of the chords used, only one is unusual and this has been done with the aim of staying true to the song’s sense of harmony and form. It’s not difficult to master and in fact is quite pretty sounding.

As a beginner on guitar you may find yourself frustrated by tutorials with a lack of good commentary for the various strums involved in playing songs. When you learn how to play Bubbly it’s necessary for you to employ a Shuffle Strum feel and this is clearly explained in Guitar in a Nutshell.

Fortunately, the strum never changes throughout the song so once you have it, it never changes. Thats good news for beginners on guitar.

I’ve found that the best way to approach learning guitar songs is to isolate whichever techniques are involved and thereby simplify things as far as possible. Keeping true to this philosophy my video tutorial on how to play Bubbly separates the chords from the strum allowing beginners the best chance of mastering each part.

Your best friend when learning how to play Bubbly from the video is the pause button! Use it often to rehearse and practice what’s being talked about. In this way you get to create the same feeling of a typical private lesson.

I’ve a feeling that it’s the strum which will present you with the most challenge as it’s not often taught in other guitar tutorials, be patient and I hope your experience of learning how to play Bubbly will be a really enjoyable one!

This article will guide you through how to play Bubbly by Colbie Caillat. It’s a really nice acoustic guitar song and suitable for beginners too!

Luckily with most popular guitar songs you have the possibility to make them easier or harder depending on how good you are on guitar. To play Bubbly does not require a high degree of technical difficulty.

In the video I’ve made for how to play Bubbly I’ve selected an easy version of the song to teach with beginners on guitar in mind. Part of this process involves using a Capo to make the chords appear in open position thus avoiding any need for Barre Chords.

The vast majority of the song can be played with just one 4 chord progression. Of those 4 chords, one is slightly unusual but is there to stay true to the tonality of the original song which is always an important consideration. It’s not too difficult to master and sounds beautiful.

Now when people ask how to play Bubbly, often what they really need to learn is the particular strumming pattern used in the song. In Guitar in a Nutshell we refer it as a Shuffle Strum and any tutorial on how to play Bubbly needs to have a clear explanation for it!

The strum in fact never strays from this Shuffle Strum feel making it universally convenient! Just learn it once and your done for the entire song.

Guitar Strumming Patterns

Posted By Paul Perry on May 16, 2009 @ 3:03 am
by Payo W Perry

Guitar playing is just as much about guitar strumming patterns as it is chords and for many instructional guitar methods there seems to be a tendency to neglect this important aspect.

While some people have the ability to simply pick up guitar strumming patterns by ear this is not true for most beginners. They require a more step by step method of learning in order to establish the rudiments of strumming and to later be able to improvise their own.

Here are some important starting points to know about guitar strumming patterns. The first is that you dont need to know a lot of different strums. Luckily there are universal guitar strumming patterns which will cover you for 100s of songs.

Have you thought about the pick you use? Perhaps not, but all picks are not equal and they can vastly alter not only how it feels to play guitar but also how is sounds. You want to produce a warm sound from your guitar strumming patterns and for this a .60mm pick is a great all round choice.

Thirdly the tension in your wrist is extremely important. I have had many students where the problems experienced in guitar strumming patterns were all to do with their wrist. Unfortunately they had a natural tendency to hold their wrist very rigid instead of loose and easy, this fact translated directly into a harsh and abrasive sound. It also felt harder to them to play guitar because of the resistance against the strings.

Learning to strum guitar online can be a bit treacherous! There appears to be a great deal of just plain bad instruction out there on the subject and you could find that you suffer the unfortunate fate of things seeming harder that they should be. Whatever method or site you choose, make sure that the guitar strumming patterns are simple, universal and useful in the real world. Dont waste energy learning strumming patterns youll never really use!

Get your guitar strumming patterns right and the rest will seem a whole lot easier.[youtube:Lnvgxce4v_U;[link:how to strum on guitar];http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lnvgxce4v_U&feature=related]

Are You Using Cubase or Fruity Loops? – Overview of Synthesizers

Posted By Eric Reese on May 12, 2009 @ 3:37 am
by Ben Dennis

The original sound that you hear in the patches is made by the oscillators, and is then fed through the synthesiser signal path. Say you set oscillation to a genuinely low pitch, you would end up with gaps because the waveform is unceasingly dependant on the speed pitch of the note. Therefore the different sounds are created by the shape of the wave form, which is the product of oscillation.

There are various ordinary oscillator waveforms. For a sharp biting type sound, you require the saw wave. It is called this because its shape is identical to those on a saw blade

To obtain a soft mild tone then you will want the Sine-wave, which’s shaped like a horizontal S; it has a smooth up and down shape to it.

A specified colour of noise will produce noise even though it is not truly a wave form

To get that sound that simulates a hollow reed you require the square wave. This is distinguishable by it’s virtually perfect square out look.

A variance to the square wave is the pulse wave, even though its just half as wide. It has the amusing ability to have a modulated width. Perhaps you have heard this as being related to as the Pulse Width Modulation.

To find a happy medium between the saw and sine-wave you will need the triangle-wave, which’s the shape of a triangle.

Most frequently a synthesizer has 2-3 oscillators. Being as that is the case, you could do some fascinating stuff by blending the wave forms as one. Plus you could tune them so they’re different from each other. It can be tuned in semi tones, octaves or in cents. A swirling untuned sound is produced by many oscillators which are cents apart from one another. Cents is a 100th of a semitone.

There is an oscillator recognized as a low frequency oscillator. Its frequencies are undetectable unless you physically tune it into a average hearing range. Its job is to tone the pitch of the oscillator or the filter frequency. The start and stop of the wave form is quite evident because the LFOs are like the oscillators in that they all the same use regular wave forms. When utilised properly for example the sine-wave permits you to hear an increasing or decreasing sound of the wave-shape. Animation and moving texture would be the end result for your synthesiser sound if complete decently.

Choose Your Electric Guitar Amplifier From One Of Three Types

Posted By Matt Rushton on May 7, 2009 @ 3:04 am
by Matt Rushton

There are so many great guitar amplifiers to choose from on the market today. How do you choose the one that’s right for you? Well, you first have to ask yourself the question, what type of music are you going to be playing?

There are amplifiers made for pretty much every type of music there is. There are amps more suited for Jazz, some that excel at Rock-N-Roll and some that are simply excellent at country music. Once you’ve decided what genre of music you’re going to be playing it’s time to consider the three main types of guitar amplifier construction.

Currently there are 3 main types of guitar amplifier on the market. There is the classic and eternally popular tube amplifier. There is the rugged and reliable solid-state amplifier which has no tubes. The latest and greatest amplifiers are digital modeling amplifiers which can sound like many different amplifiers.

First of all, there’s the tried and true tube amplifier which has been around since the beginning of the electric guitar. It has a thick, warm sound which brings out many of your guitar’s overtones. Tube amps are very versatile and can cover both clean and distorted sounds. They really shine when playing Rock-N-Roll because tube amps like to get a gritty type of distortion.

Solid State amplifiers do not use any tubes and have a reputation for being a very clean and clear amplifier. They are also very rugged and don’t require as much maintenance as a tube amp. Although solid state amplifiers have excellent clean tones they’re also perfect for modern heavy metal tones. Solid State amps do well in both Country music and Heavy Metal.

The most current trend in electric guitar amplifiers are the digital modeling amps. These amplifiers have computer simulations of other amplifiers built into them so they can sound like any other type of amp. No matter what type of music you play, a digital modeling amp will be able to give you a useable sound for that genre.

My own personal favorite guitar amplifier is the Fender Cyber-Twin SE amplifier. It falls into the digital modeling amplifier family but it is really a hybrid of tube amplification and modeling. The sounds the Fender Cyber-Twin SE creates are truly fabulous.

In summary let’s look at which amps are the best for certain types of music. I feel like you would be best with a tube amp if you’re playing Jazz or Rock-N-Roll. Get a solid state amplifier if you’re playing extreme heavy metal or country. If you’re going to be playing a lot of different styles of music then you’re going to be best served by getting one of the excellent digital modeling amplifiers on the market today.

You Need A Bob Marley Poster

Posted By Chris Campbell on May 6, 2009 @ 3:33 am
by Chris Campbell

What exactly is the attraction when it comes to Bob Marley posters? They seem to be very popular amongst the college crowd for one. Walk through any college campus, and check out all the Marley t-shirts for starters.

No doubt his music is just as popular as it ever was, and if you ask the most people on the street, they could tell you who the man was. Chances are pretty good, they could even sing or at least hum a few phrases of his music.

How is it, that almost 30 years since his passing, Bob Marley images, posters, shirts, and music continue to be as popular as ever. New artists continue to pay homage to his legacy in covering his music, and allowing his music to inspire their own.

What is it, that makes a celebrity a celebrity? Hard to say, as there are so many, but for the most part, it is a larger than life mystique. Celeberties come and go. Even some icons come and go, but some stay within our pop culture bubble for generations. Bob Marley does. True part of it may because of a tragically short life, but part of it was also the universal message of love he sang of.

So why so many posters for Bob then? Here’s some interesting stats for the Marilyn Monroe, John Lennon and Bob Marley. According to Wordtracker, there are approximately 5000 internet searches a day for the phrase John Lennon, approximately 10,000 for Marilyn Monroe, and approximately 18,000 for Bob Marley.

Would his popularity have been the same today, if he hadn’t died so young? What message would he have for us in this digital age?

The popular and growing fascination with all things Bob Marley continues to be reflected in the sales of his music, his posters, his photographs, and his lyrics. Nobody generates that much interest, without appealing to people on different levels. It was never really just about the music, it was about the man himself.

His was a message that rang true not only through the world, but also through the generations. Luckily for ours and future generations, that music and message is still there for everyone.
