Late Night Shopping Discovery

Posted By Admin on July 23, 2008 @ 11:02 pm

I usually don’t stay up so late at the computer, but tonight is a different story.  I guess the reason that I am sitting here is that I am looking for a gift for my wife - just to say that I care.

Now, it might seem a little weird that I would be looking online, but I just recently discovered (about two hours ago) that there are sites where you can get free online coupons for just about anything.

So, I have been using the handy coupon toolbar that I found and have been going over a list of gift ideas that I had for her to see if I can get a deal on any of them.  I don’t want to sound cheap, but I have a limited budget to use to impress her, and if I can stretch it, the more smiles I see on her face.

I think that I will take advantage of some of these makeup coupons and buy her some new lipstick - it is not only something she loves, but with the discount, it will cost next to nothing.  I just hope I can pick out a good color for her - they all look pretty much the same to me.

My Own Bathroom

Posted By Twyla on July 18, 2008 @ 3:14 pm

When my husband and I decided to renovate the unfinished basement of our house, I was very excited to go out and look at shower cubicles with him. He was finally going to have his own bathroom, which meant that the one we currently share was going to be all mine.

Not that I am greedy, but I am not really into taking showers and it gets rather tiring having to clean the bathtub every time I use it. He showers every day when he gets home from work and leaves the bathtub rather disgusting.

While we were browsing through the electric showers, my mind wandered to the freedom that was going to come with us each having our own bathroom space. I did not feel too guilty about it because I know that he was excited about having his own shower, too. I didn’t even blink an eye when he chose one of the most expensive ones. After all, he deserves it.

Gentlemen, Start Your Engines

Hey guys, listen up! If you upgrade your car, your computer, your software, your home appliances, your power tools, why in the world wouldn’t you consider upgrading your wife’s wedding ring come anniversary time?

This is not the time to get her that brushed stainless steel refrigerator or the cook top that has a button which will cause water to boil in and incredible 90 seconds. Neither does she want a riding mower, vacuum cleaner (even if it is a Dyson), a watch (unless it has diamonds), or anything one would call “practical.”

Even if your wife is practical, once in awhile you need to treat her with something deliciously impractical (as long as you’re not jeopardizing next month’s house payment or your kids’ college educations.

Do yourself a favor and spend some time searching online for wedding bands, rings in diamond or anniversary rings in diamond, and get her something special. But be sure to clear your browser cache. You don’t want her accidentally see you’ve been searching for diamonds. She might misunderstand…

A Day at the Mall

Posted By Admin on @ 4:56 pm

I am happy to say that I don’t really go out shopping very much.  Honestly, it really isn’t my favorite pass time, but sometimes you just have to go.  For example, earlier today, my wife and I went to the mall to go do some shopping.

Now, we did need a few groceries, but honestly, we didn’t need much else.  But she loves to window shop, so I knew that we were going to be spending at least a couple of hours there.

We looked through many stores, browsed through a baby gifts store, some clothing stores, and she even humored me and let me look in a video game store.

We really didn’t spend much money (except on the groceries), but it was a nice chance for us to talk without the constant chattering of our children.  Yes, the day at the mall was fun - though I still don’t really like to shop.

Look Before You Buy

Posted By Twyla on May 27, 2008 @ 4:55 pm

My best friend and I live in different states, but we talk to each other every day on the phone. She recently bought a new car and somehow the topic of auto insurance came up. I was stunned when I found out what she was paying. My car insurance was more than twice what she was paying and my car was over eight years old. This did not make sense to me and I wondered how it could be so different just because she lived in a different state than I did.

I decided that I was going to call around and get some different auto insurance quotes, to see if it really was about location. I found out that I was being completely ripped off and I ended up saving a ton of money by switching to the same company that she was using. I guess it pays to compare before buying.

Impressed with the Illinois Window Company

Posted By Twyla on May 18, 2008 @ 4:13 pm

I just became the head of maintenance at the church that my family and I have attended for over 15 years.  One of the first things on my list as head of maintenance is to have a window company come out and give us an estimate on whatever cost to replace all of the windows in the sanctuary.

A friend and I have been discussing an Illinois window company that he had used when he built his house.  He told me that they had given him the lowest quote and that they had done a really good job installing the windows. He was very happy with the service he had received.  I contacted the company to see how soon they could come out and they came that very afternoon.

It was suggested that we look into vinyl replacement windows as they were both cost-effective and energy-efficient.  I was impressed with the salesman and I took my quote before the board who gave me the go ahead to have all of the windows replaced as soon as I could.  It looks great and it is one job that I can cross off my list.

Quick Shopping Trip

Posted By Admin on April 24, 2008 @ 10:10 am

My wife decided that we should have some friends over tonight for a games night.  I wish that she had not invited them.

You see, I have been working really hard at work and I was just hoping for a quiet night at home alone.  Usually, she goes out on Thursday nights with her girlfriends and I thought that I could have a movie night with myself.

In fact, I had already bought some cheap finger food yesterday with that plan in mind.  But when she told me that she decided that we were going to have friends over, those dreams were shattered.

So, I had to go shopping this morning for some food for tonight’s event. There were quite a few things on my list, but the store wasn’t busy, so it didn’t take too long.

I hope we don’t go too late tonight as I need my sleep, and honestly, I don’t care for the people that she invited over.

Good Deals on Shopping Carts

Posted By Admin on April 23, 2008 @ 9:47 am

Now, I am not talking about the shopping carts that you would use at the supermarket, but rather an ecommerce shopping cart software package.

For those of you out there who are in the market for an inexpensive and robust shopping cart solution, I might have found a solution for you.  You see, I found some great storefront software that works easily and makes running an online store much easier for you.

It is so nice that you don’t have to be a rocket scientist any longer to run a successful online shopping store anymore.  I can remember the first shopping cart software that I did use, and you had to get in there and get your hands dirty by playing with the code.  Back in those days you had to be specialists, but now, you don’t have to.

If you want to save yourself even more money, try out this aspdotnetstorefront coupon to save even more.  Go check them out - they are the best shopping cart software provider in the world.

Fitting in, in Another Crowd

Posted By Twyla on April 15, 2008 @ 7:05 pm

Our city hosts and annual twins and triplet’s sale, in which all parents of multiples can try to get rid of things that they no longer need or want. I like to get in on the sale because they usually have some really great deals and I love getting deals.

At the last sale, I bought some Jetsons Halloween costumes and a bicycle for my son. The prices are really amazing and I try to buy clothes for my kids that will last for the whole year. I am usually pretty successful. My kids are always very well dressed and I never have to buy them new clothes.

The people at the sale always joke with me that I definitely should have had a set of twins or triplets because I fit in so well at the club. I don’t mind the teasing because they are really great people and are a lot of fun to hang around with.

Too Frugal

Posted By Twyla on @ 10:26 am

I was at the mall with my friend the other day, browsing around at different things. We had her little girl with us in her stroller and we were just having a good day visiting and drinking coffee together. I was enjoying it, as I don’t get out socializing very often between school and work.

We were walking through some children’s clothing stores and I was amazed at some of the prices. I was wondering who would buy expensive designer baby clothes for their baby when they were just going to outgrow them almost as soon as you bought them.

I guess a lot of people must buy them for there to be a market for it, but I think that they are crazy. When I have a baby, I am going to shop at thrift stores and buy cheap clothes. I think it makes much more sense for the mom to buy designer clothes for herself.
