My First Sale Online

Posted By Admin on June 23, 2008 @ 12:06 pm

It was just a couple of months ago that I had my first sale online.  Now, it wasn’t more than twenty dollars, but it was a step in the right direction.

I didn’t get to this point overnight, but there was some training involved.  You see, I had followed an affiliate ebook marketing course for a couple of weeks to get our heads around what we wanted to do.  Without the proper training, there is just no real guarantee of success.

Now, what we did was come up with an ebook of the best affiliate programs at the current time.  It was a lot of research, but we came up with a good list of programs based on reviews by many affiliates and blogs online.

It didn’t take too long to get the site marketed and underway.  But it did take awhile before we did make our first sale - and it sure made my day!

Branching Out

Posted By Twyla on June 11, 2008 @ 4:01 pm

When my husband and I were venturing into the world of Internet business, one of the things we wanted to do was start some free online dating sites. We were constantly trying to set up friends and most of the friends that we did set up, ended up together.

So many people thank us for introducing them to their soul mate and we thought that this was a gift that we should share with the world. It was a big step for us and I was more than a little bit nervous at the prospect of playing with people’s hearts, but it was a risk I was willing to take, on the chance that we could help people find happiness together.

We started out with a site that would help people find local singles. We thought it was best to start from a local standpoint and then branch out, if it was successful. It has been and we have over seven sites up for seven different cities now.

Getting a Good Laugh

Posted By Twyla on June 10, 2008 @ 11:02 am

I was about fifteen when I built my first webpage. It was nothing brilliant, but it was a page about me and designed by me. At the time, I was very proud of it and I thought it was a brilliant way for my out of town family and friends to see what was going on in my life. It was cute and fun, but it looked like it had been built by a teenage girl.

When I decided to go into professional web design, I would have been mortified if any of my clients had seen that first page I ever created. I did some formal training on the subject and then I started my own business. I teamed up with a logo design online company, as I wanted to have someone creative on my side to do the actual illustrations.

I have come a long way since that first page about me. It is not up on the web now, but I have saved it, just so I can go back and see what I was like when my life was much simpler. I get a good laugh at it, and sometimes, that is just what you need.

Looking for a Hosting Solution

Posted By Admin on June 5, 2008 @ 8:47 pm

With my last web host shut down, I don’t know what I am going to do with the few sites that I own.  Thankfully, this one isn’t affected, but I need to have some sort of hosting if I am expecting to make any money over the weekend.

It doesn’t help that I am strapped for cash at the moment, and am running short of options.  Without much choice, I will have to look on a search engine for a solution.

After a bit of hunting, I think that I might have come up with a solution: free PHP hosting.  According to the reviews that I have read about their site, it should be the best solution for my circumstances.  They are reliable, fast, and have a good support team - three things that will help me to succeed.

So, I just have to change the nameservers at my registrar and we should be all set… thank goodness.

Helping my Customers Out

Posted By Admin on May 21, 2008 @ 6:10 pm

Even though I do offer a web design service, I don’t have the time to help everyone.  I have a lineup of customers and there are some that have more time than I do.  Instead of losing business, I can provide them with a solution to their problems.

You see, I am an affiliate for some quick and easy web design software that is available to the public.  When I am unable to provide the web design services myself, I direct them to the software that I market, and then they are able to create the site themselves.

Not only does it allow them to get their site online, but it eases the process of creating the site themselves.  Included in the software is a handy web menu builder that is as simple as filling some blanks - something that most people can handle.

Sure, by following this path, I do lose some income, but I still make money on the affiliate sales - and the customers are happy because they have been helped out.

Networking on the Go

Posted By Admin on May 20, 2008 @ 12:02 pm

I have been making a point of doing some social networking to increase my reach and find new business partners.  For the most part, it has been going very well, but when I am working on the road, I have had some problems.

You see, the laptop I own has a really old battery that doesn’t hold a charge, and I have been unable to find a new one.  Also, I don’t have the money to replace the laptop, so my networking efforts have been reduced to the time that I have at home.

But I found out recently that there was a mobile social networking site that I could use on my cell phone that would let me accomplish my goals, without the need of a new computer.  Not only was it a wap site, but it worked perfectly on my phone.

So, now when I travel, I can still get the networking that I need to do without missing out on any opportunities - which is perfect for my lifestyle.

Taking a Look at my Friend’s Website

Posted By Admin on April 27, 2008 @ 12:45 pm

If you know me, I am one of those people that just delete any emails sent to me that are not work related.  Honestly, I don’t have the time to do everything, so I make choices when it comes to what I do with my time.

But, yesterday, an old friend of mine sent me a link to a new website that he was creating.  I don’t think that I had ever received any messages from him that were a waste of time, so I thought I would go check it out.  I clicked on the link in the email and I ended up at his site.

It was a free online dating website.

Now, I am happily married, and have no interest in his service, but I do know that he is a smart cookie, and that he wouldn’t make a website if he couldn’t profit.

I think I will have to talk to him sometime about his other ideas for websites - maybe he can help me start another one.

Good Deals on Shopping Carts

Posted By Admin on April 23, 2008 @ 9:47 am

Now, I am not talking about the shopping carts that you would use at the supermarket, but rather an ecommerce shopping cart software package.

For those of you out there who are in the market for an inexpensive and robust shopping cart solution, I might have found a solution for you.  You see, I found some great storefront software that works easily and makes running an online store much easier for you.

It is so nice that you don’t have to be a rocket scientist any longer to run a successful online shopping store anymore.  I can remember the first shopping cart software that I did use, and you had to get in there and get your hands dirty by playing with the code.  Back in those days you had to be specialists, but now, you don’t have to.

If you want to save yourself even more money, try out this aspdotnetstorefront coupon to save even more.  Go check them out - they are the best shopping cart software provider in the world.

Setting up Shop Online

Posted By Admin on April 17, 2008 @ 5:46 pm

A friend of mine owns and operates a brick-and-mortar kitchen supply store.  They provide everything from kitchen accessories to kitchen appliances at prices that are very inexpensive compared to other businesses in town.

They have been doing some research over the past few months to see how well their business would do if they had an online division.  According to the research that they have done, their prices are similar and quite often cheaper than other retailers in their industry.

Then contracted a web design firm to design an online storefront for them and to find a company to provide them with the Internet merchant accounts that they will need to accept payment online.  Things are coming together very quickly and she is hoping to have the store open before May.

From the customers that she is mentioned her plans to, it looks like she will have a very positive response from her customers and should have no problems succeeding online.

Sharing Our Artistic Talents

Posted By Admin on April 14, 2008 @ 1:58 pm

My wife and I have one thing in common: we are both artists.  In fact, we met each other in art school and have not looked back since.  Though we have done a few graphic design jobs, we thought that if we started a graphic design company we could both spend time doing what we love.

Before we decided to do this though, we needed to research are potential competition to see if the quality work that we did was as good or exceeded the services they offered.  Looking online, we noticed that the graphic design firms in town did not offer work at the same level as the designs we create.

We decided that we would try and offer our services online first and provided that they were successful, we would open up a store in town.  We are just making the finishing touches on our website and hope to launch it in the next week.  We decided that will give this project a three-month period to become profitable, and should that not happen we will shut it down.

If everything goes well, this business will be our opportunity to share our artistic talents with the world.
